LOVE FOR MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVILS

Man is a conscientious animal. He tries to do good to himself as well as to others. He continues to do so until he falls into moral pits. Greed for money is one of these moral pits. It increases man’s love for money and does him away from duty and humanity. As long as man has restraint over greed, he gives importance to morality, worship and brotherhood. But once this restraint weakens, it weakens the moral chains between man and man.

Money is the basic necessity of all men. But it has no defined limits. The lower limit tends towards debt ness, misery and pauper ness. Therefore, it is not required at all. The upper limit is nothing but the sky itself that is limitless. This limitlessness of monetary requirements cannot give happiness but creates several problems. The famous philosopher Chuang he has said, “To have enough is good luck, to have more than enough is harmful. This is true of all things, especially of money.”

When man wants to get more money than what is just enough for him, he starts to cut off his moral values. He then regards his real brother as an obstacle in getting more and more money. Thinking on this line, one day he comes to the conclusion that he can love either money or the brother. Thus money becomes a thing of enmity between real brothers what to talk of other relations! God had created brother and brother to love each other. But money has snatched away the place of a brother. The state of affairs can be seen anywhere and everywhere and we can easily watch two brothers fighting for money.

The relation between brother and brother is one of closet relation. A brother stands by his brother through all adversities of life. He serves him in disease, protects him in a battle, defends him against social attacks, and is ready to give his blood and at times even his life for the sake of him. But when money comes in between the two brothers, they are no longer good brothers. Instead, they become two partners of a business. Thus money plays a crucial role within a family and without as well. To bring a conclusion, we should say that if relation is the first love and money the second, two brothers always love each other, but if money becomes the first love, they hate, oppose and fight each other. Thus the love for money is the root of family evils.

All men are born equal. All of them have same hands, feet, eyes, ears, minds and hearts. Many of them get similar education and training. They are not called big or small on the basis of hands or feet, caste or colour, being tall or short, happy or unhappy. But the relation of big or small develops on the basis of being rich or poor. Thus money plays the role of a difference- maker between man and man. This is money that makes one a lord and another a labourer . A capitalist and a labourer both are equal as men, but they are different groups on the basis of financial gap between them. The other qualities of mankind – love, respect, service, knowledge, sacrifice and arts do not divide man and man but money does it very successfully,

People are different in their habits. Some of them are particular in praying to God but others do not pray at all. Some of them are fond of milk or butter but others have interest in liquor. But all men want to get money and none wants to lose it.

The businessmen play a very important role in shaping our society. They go here and there to bring commodities so as to provide the costumers with them. They try to give good commodities, good behavior and good feeling so long as they love humanity. But when they fall in love with money, their mind concentrates on their profit. This way they can go to the extend of adulterating unhealthy things in to audible commodities, selling artificial things in place of original ones, and even supplying unauthorized medicines. The same thing happens with the government servants. So long as they to love humanity, they do their service at the cost of hot or cold, respect or disrespect, and sometimes even sweat or blood. But when money becomes their first love, they cease to be good servants. Then they do whatever they can to earn more and more money. Now they can receive bribes, mix more sand to building material quit a criminal and appoint a fool to a responsible port. Thus the love for money is the root of occupational evils.

The famous writer Bacon has reiterated, “Money is a good servant but a bad master.” He is very much correct in his inference. The money used by a good doctor, advocate, writer or spiritual-doer can do a lot of good to thousands of people. But the money used as the dictator, causes murders, injustice and atrocities. This is the abuse of money. The good use of money can give us cars and telephones, clothes and medicines, houses and friends. But its abuser give us disease and misery, enemies and cries, addiction and sorrows.

Why is money so longed for? This is because some people hold the view that money can buy everything. They are mistaken. Money can buy medicines but not health. Money can buy a bed, but not sleep. Money can buy a labour, but not a son. Money can buy a knife, but not life. In fact money has been overvalued by some people. Money is essential but not sufficient. Further more, it makes man fall from the path of humanity. So very rightly has been said that the love for money is the root of all evils.

A person asked God, “What surprises you most about Mankind?”
God answered :
“They lose their health to earn wealth;
“Then they lose wealth to restore health.
By thinking anxiously about the future;
They ruin the present, such that they neither live for the present nor for the future,
They live as if they will never die;S
And they die as if they had never lived.”
